Vie's Jamaican Rum Cakes

Cumbria and rum, particularly via Whitehaven, have a history all their own and rum cake is part of that tradition. Vie's Jamaican Rum Cakes was founded in Cumbria by Elaine Remy to honour her mother, whose middle name was Viola - but her Dad alway's called her Vie. Vie came to the UK in the 1960's and was well-known for her scrumptious cakes generously infused with white rum from her birthplace, Jamaica. Elaine now faithfully reproduces her Mum’s cakes based on her traditional recipe and in doing so is turning her loss into a legacy (her mum passed away in 2018). The utmost care is taken to ensure that every cake is as fruity, flavoursome and fantastic as her mother’s used to be!
